SAMANTHA CRISTOFORETTI, PRIMA DONNA ITALIANA AD ANDARE TRA LE STELLE L’astronauta ha trascorso quasi 200 giorni a bordo della Stazione Spaziale Internazionale, stabilendo il record europeo e il record femminile di permanenza nello spazio. Samantha è partita il 23 novembre 2014, con la navicella Soyuz, dal cosmodromo di Baikonour, in Kazakistan, con i compagni di missione, Anton Shkaplerov e Terry Virts. Ha condotto decine di esperimenti di fisica e di medicina, ha persino fabbricato oggetti in 3D e ha studiato le reazioni dei liquidi a elevate temperature e pressioni con la macchinetta per il caffè spaziale,”Isspresso”. Il 20 luglio 2015 è stata insignita dal Presidente della Repubblica Sergio Mattarella dell’onorificenza di Cavaliere di Gran Croce, la più alta dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana.

The astronaut spent almost 200 days on board the International Space Station, setting the European record and the female record of space permanence. Samantha started on November 23, 2014, with the Soyuz spacecraft, from the Baikonour cosmodrome, in Kazakhstan, with her mission companions, Anton Shkaplerov and Terry Virts. She conducted dozens of physics and medical experiments, even made 3D objects and studied the reactions of liquids at high temperatures and pressures with the space coffee machine, “Isspresso”. On July 20, 2015, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, awarded her with the honor of Knight of the Grand Cross, the highest in the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
