PONTE “GENOVA SAN GIORGIO”, UN’OPERA MIRABILE FRUTTO DEL GENIO ITALICO
L’opera disegnata dall’archistar Renzo Piano è stata realizzata in soli 10 mesi dalle aziende Salini Impregilo e Fincantieri, unite nella joint venture PerGenova. Su un totale di venti cantieri sono state impiegate circa mille maestranze per 330 piccole e medie imprese italiane, che hanno lavorato senza sosta 24 ore su 24, 7 giorni a settimana. Il Ponte San Giorgio è sorretto da 18 pile in cemento armato ed è composto da un impalcato in acciaio, concepito da Renzo Piano con la forma della chiglia di una nave, con una travata continua di lunghezza totale pari a 1067 metri suddivisa in 19 campate.
THE “GENOVA SAN GIORGIO” BRIDGE, AN ADMIRABLE WORK OF ART, FRUIT OF THE ITALIAN GENIUS
The work designed by the star architect Renzo Piano was built in just 10 months by the companies Salini Impregilo and Fincantieri, united in the joint venture PerGenova. Out of a total of twenty construction sites, about a thousand workers were employed for 330 Italian small and medium-sized enterprises, who worked non-stop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The San Giorgio Bridge is supported by 18 reinforced concrete piers and is composed of a steel deck, designed by Renzo Piano with the shape of the keel of a ship, with a continuous girder of a total length of 1067 meters divided into 19 spans.
