ROBERTO BAGGIO, IL “DIVIN CODINO”
Attaccante e fantasista, Roberto Baggio è considerato uno dei più forti calciatori di tutti i tempi, al punto che la rivista World Soccer l’ha inserito alla 16ª posizione nella sua speciale classifica dedicata ai migliori calciatori del XX secolo. Pur non avendo mai vinto la classifica dei marcatori, Roberto Baggio è il quinto realizzatore di sempre del campionato di serie A con 205 gol, preceduto da Piola, Nordahl, Meazza e Altafini; inoltre vanta in Nazionale ben 56 presenze e 27 gol, che lo collocano al quarto posto tra i realizzatori azzurri (a pari merito con Alessandro Del Piero). È inoltre l’unico calciatore italiano ad aver segnato in tre diverse edizioni dei Campionati del mondo (1990, 1994 e 1998). Soprannominato “Raffaello” dall’Avvocato Gianni Agnelli – che accostava il suo modo di giocare all’arte del grande pittore – Baggio si è aggiudicato il Pallone d’Oro 1993, anno in cui fu eletto FIFA World Player.

Roberto Baggio was a striker and a football virtuoso, he is considered one of the best football players of all time, and the World Soccer magazine put him at the 16th place in its special list dedicated to the best football players of the 20th Century. Even if he has never conquered the first place in the goalscorers’ list, Roberto Baggio with his 205 goals is the fifth best goalscorer in the Serie A of all time, preceded only by Piola, Nordhal, Meazza and Altafini; he has played in the National team 56 times and scored 27 goals, being the fourth best striker of the Italian National team (joint fourth with Alessandro Del Piero). He is the only Italian football player to have scored goals in three different FIFA World Cups (1990, 1994 and 1998). He was called ‘Raffaello’ by Giovanni Agnelli, ‘the Lawyer,’ who used to compare his style of playing to the art of the great painter; Baggio was awarded the ‘Ballon d’Or’ in 1993, in the same year he was elected FIFA World Player.
