Rita Levi Montalcini, Premio Nobel per la Medicina

PREMIO NOBEL PER LA MEDICINA
Unica donna italiana ad aver ricevuto il Premio Nobel per la Medicina, che le venne conferito nel 1986 insieme all’americano Stanley Cohen. Nel 1969 ha assunto la direzione dell’Istituto di Biologia Cellulare del CNR, al quale ha dedicato gran parte della sua vita. Nel 2002 ha inoltre fondato l’EBRI (European Brain Research Institute), centro di ricerca internazionale, interamente dedicato allo studio delle neuroscienze.

Rita Levi Montalcini is the only Italian woman to receive the Nobel Prize for Medicine, awarded to her in 1986 together with her American colleague, Stanley Cohen In 1969 she left the United States and moved to Italy permanently, where she directed the Research Center of Neurobiology of the CNR, to which she dedicated a substantial portion of her life. In 2002 she founded the European Brain Research Institute (EBRI), an international research center dedicated completely to the study of neuroscience.
