Quando si parla di design, ancora una volta si pensa all’Italia. È infatti a partire dagli anni Cinquanta che il nostro Paese ha dato vita ad una serie di oggetti di uso quotidiano in grado di distinguersi per quella capacità di abbinare stile e utilità, estetica e industria, creatività e funzione.
Ecco allora, nel campo dei motori, “gioielli” come la Vespa e la Lambretta, ma anche la Cinquecento, la Seicento, la Topolino, mentre diventano sempre più noti nomi come Bertone e Pininfarina. Ma i progettisti non sdegnano tanti altri oggetti di uso comune: chi non ricorda la leggendaria Lettera 22 Olivetti, i televisori Brio vega, la lampada Artemide? Una tradizione che prosegue tutt’oggi grazie a nomi come Alessi, Flos, B&B, Luceplan, Artemide, che continuano a tenere alto l’Italian Style in tutto il mondo.
DESIGN, AN ITALIAN SPECIALTY
When you talk about design, you have to think of Italy. Since the Fifties our Country has been developing a series of everyday objects which distinguish themselves for their capability to combine style and practicality, aesthetics and industry, creativeness and functionality. In the field of automotive we can mention some ‘jewels’ like Vespa and Lambretta, but also Fiat 500, Fiat 600 and Topolino; furthermore the brands of Bertone and Pininfarina have become more and more popular. Designers have also been dedicating themselves to common everyday items, such as the legendary portable typewriter Olivetti Lettera 22, Brionvega televisions and the Artemide lamp. This tradition continues thanks to brands like Alessi, Flos, B&B, Luceplan and Artemide, which keep the Italian Style honored in the entire world.
