CÂNDIDO PORTINARI, IL “MICHELANGELO BRASILIANO”
Poco conosciuto in Italia nonostante le sue origini venete, Cândido Portinari (1903-1962) è considerato uno dei maggiori rappresentanti dell’arte brasiliana del XX secolo. Tra le sue numerosissime opere, esposte nei maggiori musei di tutto il mondo, il grande ciclo di affreschi presso il Ministero dell’Educazione brasiliano, e i due grandi affreschi (La Guerra e La Pace) presso il Palazzo delle Nazioni Unite a New York.

CÂNDIDO PORTINARI, THE ‘BRAZILIAN MICHELANGELO’
Largely unknown in Italy despite his Venetian origins, Cândido Portinari (1903-1962) is considered one of the greatest Brazilian artists of the 20th century. Among the many pieces on display in some of the most important museums in the world are the series of frescoes at the Brazilian Ministry of Education and the two large frescoes (War and Peace) at the United Nations Building in New York.
